Nudie Suits at the Autry!

As a life-long fan of pearl snap shirts, the Sparkle & Twang exhibit at the Autry Museum at Griffith Park is right up my alley! Designed by Nudie Cohn of Nudie's Rodeo Tailor in North Hollywood, these are the suits that Porter Wagoner and Hank Williams wore with all the flair. Elvis' gold lame suit was a Nudie, too! Other suits are on display, as well as guitars, boots, albums and related artifacts, but the Nudie suits are the best.

My Dad would've loved to be buried in a Nudie suit, as my brother told the preacher at the memorial service. I don't think the preacher got the reference, and probably still thinks my Dad wanted to be au naturale in the everafter.

So, for whatever spin you put on it, don't miss the Nudie suits!

Union Station

I frequently take the Gold Line and Red Line when I go downtown and pass through Union Station to connect. This time, I was ravenous, and decided to get a snackie between trains, which took me to the heart of the station. I forget how beautiful this place is! This part is closed off, but well worth a looksie to imagine what it was like bustling with travelers.
